CRAI Scouts provide Scouting provision within the Caerphilly County Borough, incorporating the historic districts of Caerphilly, Rhymney Valley and Islwyn.
Our vision for 2023
By 2023 we will have prepared more young people with skills for life, supported by amazing leaders delivering an inspiring programme. We will be growing, more inclusive, shaped by young people and making a bigger impact in our communities.
Our goals
Our plan is to build on the success of the previous plan: to continue to grow, become more inclusive, to be shaped by young people and to make a bigger impact in our communities. In line with the UK Scouting Strategy ‘Skills for Life’ we have set the following goals for 2023.
Growth
By 2023:
• We will have appointed a Growth and Development Champion to develop a Growth Strategy for CRAI Scouts.
• All volunteers who have completed the appointments process will have a clear direction as what the expectations of their role will be.
• Our volunteers will have the opportunity to complete their essential training within 5 months of starting their roles.
• All Volunteers will have a meaningful appointment review to ensure the right people are in the right role.
Inclusivity
By 2023:
• We will have appointed an Inclusivity Champion to develop our Inclusivity strategy and provide support to our volunteers in extending our reach and widening participation.
• Young people of all genders will be welcomed in every section and unit throughout CRAI.
• We will have provided a Scouting provision to a group of young people who wouldn’t have had previously had access to it.
Youth Shaped
By 2023:
• We will have appointed a Youth Commissioner onto the CRAI Scouts Leadership Team with a clear succession plan for future Youth Commissioners.
• Our Youth Commissioner will have developed a Youth Shaped Scouting action plan, with a focus on Young People shaping their Scouting experience in CRAI Scouts.
• We will have supported an 18-24 year old to be a member of our Executive Committee.
Community Impact
By 2023:
• CRAI Scouts will be having an impact in their local communities and will be active partners with other local organisations.
