It gives us great pleasure to have presented Alan Britt of 1st Abercarn the Silver Wolf Award. Initially created by Baden-Powell, the founder of Scouts, it serves as recognition for outstanding work and is the highest award in the Scouting movement. Britt - as he is known by friends, family, and Scouting friends from across the world - has many strings to his bow. Best known as 1st Abercarn’s Scout Leader, he has also acted as Cub Leader, sat on numerous committees, and helped at District level on numerous occasions, which has led to more than 50 years’ service to the movement and countless awards. A few other members of the Scouting movement also had something to say: “As an ex-Scout of Britt’s, it was a great moment to be able to present him with his Silver Wolf. There are so many leaders who have benefited from his wisdom and guidance; he is a real asset to Scouting.” - Richard Terrell, District Commissioner "I've known Mr Britt (Britty) for quite some time now! There is only one word to describe him…’Scout’. His values, his enthusiasm, and some might say tenacity, make him the perfect recipient for this award. Congratulations to Ewan who has achieved his DofE Silver.

This week we have cause to celebrate. Congratulations to CRAI Network member Craig who is also an Assistant Scout Leader at 1^st Abercarn Scouts who has achieved his DofE Gold. Craig attended the Kent Scout International Jamboree as service team members for his residential experience. We are also celebrating 3 of our Young Leaders who have obtained their Young Leader Belt by completing the award.

Congratulations to one of our Young Leaders who has just completed his Young Leader award. James has undertaken all the Modules and completed all his Mission badges as a Young Leader in a local Scout troop. CRAI District currently has 22 Young Leaders in Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts throughout the district.

Today we held the first CRAI Scout Warhammer day, which involved learning to make and paint models then learning how to play a game. The day was hosted by 5th Risca Scout group with members of CRAI Explorers Cwm Gwyddon helping. We gave a prize for the best painted model.

With over 22 Scouts and Explorers getting involved we are now planning a tournament in 2023.
